 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday.  Teenage Girl Arrested for Pouring Hot Water on Woman During Jealous Rage in Denstaat Village 


A 17-year-old girl is expected to appear before the Senwabarwana Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 10 November 2025, facing a charge of attempted murder after she allegedly poured hot water on a 20-year-old woman and hit her with a bottle.


The incident occurred on Friday, 07 November 2025, at around 21:00 in Denstaat village under the Alldays policing area in the Capricorn District.


According to reports, the victim was asleep when the suspect woke her up and confronted her about photographs she allegedly found on her boyfriend’s cellphone. During the argument, the suspect allegedly poured hot water over the victim and struck her several times on the head and face with a bottle.


The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police were called to the scene and opened a case of attempted murder. The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter.
