  A manhunt is underway for man who shot a Granite City Police Officer multiple times. Officers in Granite City, Illinois, responded to a call regarding a unwanted subject near the 2000 block of Johnson Road at 2:20 p.m. on Friday, December 5th. Upon arrival, officers attempted to make contact with the suspect. The suspect opened fire on officers before fleeing the scene.  Unfortunately, one officer was struck multiple times. The officer was rushed to a St. Louis University Hospital. He is expected to make a full recovery.  A massive manhunt is now underway to locate the suspect. Authorities warn the public that the man is considered armed and dangerous. THE IMO STATE POLICE COMMAND IS SET TO ARRAIGN FIVE MEN FOR THE VIOLENT ASSAULT OF A 55-YEAR-OLD WOMAN, MRS. NDIDIAMAKA AGU, IN EMEKUKU, OWERRI NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA.(PHOTO).



The Imo State Police Command is set to arraign five men for the violent assault of a 55-year-old woman, Mrs. Ndidiamaka Agu, in Emekuku, Owerri North Local Government Area.


The state police spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye, disclosed this on Monday in Owerri.


The Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, had on November 3, 2025, ordered an investigation and arrest of six men seen b€ating Ndidiamaka in a circulating video.


Okoye said that five of the suspects have been arrested, while efforts continue to apprehend the sixth suspect, currently on the run.


The arrested men are Onyekachi Njoku, 40; Chiazor Osuji, 45; Chukwuma Iwuala, 46; Eugene Njoku; and Njoku Emmanuel, 35, all from Uboegbelu in Emekuku, Owerri North LGA.


In the viral video, six men were seen vi0lently b€ating Ndidiamaka, despite warnings from another woman to stop. 

The attackers also attempted to assault the woman recording the incident and tried to break down her door.


Okoye said, following the directive by the Imo Police Commissioner for swift action, operatives of the X-Squad Unit arrested five suspects linked to the assaμlt.


According to him, the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, is still at large, and operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend him.


The arrested suspects will be arraigned in court soon with appropriate crim!nal charges.

"All five suspects have made confessional statements admitting their roles in the attack. Meanwhile, the sixth suspect, identified as Onyedikachi Njoku, is still at large, and operatives are intensifying efforts to apprehend him", Okoye said.


The Imo Police Commissioner, Aboki Danjuma, condemned the assaμlt in its entirety and warned that intim!dation of citizens who lawfully cooperate with the Police will not be tolerated.
