McDonald’s launches World Cup meal and collectible cups ahead of 2026 FIFA tournament kickoff McDonald’s is launching limited-time World Cup meals and collectibles ahead of the FIFA tournament kickoff on June 11, as excitement builds for the expanded 48-team competition co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada. The fast-food chain, returning as an official tournament sponsor, will roll out its World Cup-themed menu nationwide starting June 4. Customers can choose between a Big Mac or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets meal, both served with a special gold-packaged Big Mac Sauce. As part of the promotion, McDonald’s is also releasing collectible cups featuring nine global soccer stars and cultural icons. The lineup includes Christian Pulisic, David Beckham, Ronaldinho, Thierry Henry, Son Heung-Min, Lamine Yamal, Alphonso Davies, Santiago Gimenez, and the brand’s mascot Grimace. Troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army- Operation Lafiya Nakowa say they have destroyed a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, along Takum - Wukari road and recovered one dane gun.

6 Brigade Nigerian Army, says the troops acting on credible intelligence on the activities of bandits around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum Local Government Area, conducted a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba villages. The operation successfully cleared the identified areas, including adjoining settlements and river lines.


It adds, during the operation, the troops received another intelligence at Kofar Ahmadu village that bandits were sighted around TY Farm in Tati. The troops immediately headed towards the area through Sabon Gida Tati and made contact with the criminals. Confronted with the troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled deep into the forest.


On exploitation, the troops discovered and destroyed their major camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. 


The clearance activities code-named OPERATION LAFIYA NAKOWA, aimed at flushing out hibernating bandits and terrorist elements within the Area of Responsibility of troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) across Taraba State.


The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their swift response, gallantry, and professionalism during the operation. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s unrelenting commitment to maintaining peace and security across Taraba State and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing operations.
