 NEMA COORDINATES SAR OPS AT THE SCENE OF BUILDING COLLAPSE INVOLVING A THREE STOREY BUILDING UNDER CONSTRUCTION AT GUDU AREA OF FCT At about 0945hrs on Saturday 16th May, 2026, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) was alerted of a building collapse at Gudu District of FCT.  Critical stakeholders including Federal Fire, FCT Fire, NSCDC, NPF, FRSC and Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were activated while a response team of NEMA from the Abuja Operations Office led by the Head of Operations Mr Zakari Abubakar  and operatives from AYA Emergency Response Bay (ERAB) were deployed to the scene for quick response and coordination.  A reinforcement team  from NEMA Headquarters led by the Director Search and Response (DSAR) Air Cdre Bature Usman was also on ground to provide necessary backup and supervision.  Trump pardons billionaire Joe Lewis, former Tottenham owner

President Donald Trump has granted a pardon to billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family holds a majority stake in the English soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

Lewis, 88, pleaded guilty to insider trading in 2024 and was fined $5 million by a New York judge. He received three years of probation but no prison sentence. The pardon reportedly took into account his age and the fact that he did not personally profit from the scheme.

The pardon clears the way for Lewis to travel to the United States for the first time since his conviction, allowing him to seek medical care and visit his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “I am pleased all of this is now behind me, and I can enjoy retirement and watch as my family and extended family continue to build our businesses based on the quality and pursuit of excellence that has become our trademark,” Lewis said in a statement.

Lewis has had limited involvement with Tottenham since 2022, when he transferred majority ownership of the club to his family through a trust. His pardon adds to a growing list of wealthy individuals convicted of financial crimes who have received clemency from Trump during his second term.
