 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  Trump pardons billionaire Joe Lewis, former Tottenham owner

President Donald Trump has granted a pardon to billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family holds a majority stake in the English soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

Lewis, 88, pleaded guilty to insider trading in 2024 and was fined $5 million by a New York judge. He received three years of probation but no prison sentence. The pardon reportedly took into account his age and the fact that he did not personally profit from the scheme.

The pardon clears the way for Lewis to travel to the United States for the first time since his conviction, allowing him to seek medical care and visit his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “I am pleased all of this is now behind me, and I can enjoy retirement and watch as my family and extended family continue to build our businesses based on the quality and pursuit of excellence that has become our trademark,” Lewis said in a statement.

Lewis has had limited involvement with Tottenham since 2022, when he transferred majority ownership of the club to his family through a trust. His pardon adds to a growing list of wealthy individuals convicted of financial crimes who have received clemency from Trump during his second term.
