 Anambra LG Commissioner Warns Against Politicising Town Union Offices, Urges Focus on Development ‎By Chisom Okpala ‎ ‎The Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Barr. Vin Ezeaka, has cautioned individuals who perceive the positions of President-General and Town Union Executive as political offices to desist from such notions. He advised that these institutions should remain dedicated to community development and the collective interests of the people. ‎ ‎Barr. Ezeaka made this admonition on Friday, June 5, while receiving the Ugbenu Town Union Executive in his office at the Old Government House, Awka.  Trump pardons billionaire Joe Lewis, former Tottenham owner

President Donald Trump has granted a pardon to billionaire Joe Lewis, whose family holds a majority stake in the English soccer club Tottenham Hotspur.

Lewis, 88, pleaded guilty to insider trading in 2024 and was fined $5 million by a New York judge. He received three years of probation but no prison sentence. The pardon reportedly took into account his age and the fact that he did not personally profit from the scheme.

The pardon clears the way for Lewis to travel to the United States for the first time since his conviction, allowing him to seek medical care and visit his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. “I am pleased all of this is now behind me, and I can enjoy retirement and watch as my family and extended family continue to build our businesses based on the quality and pursuit of excellence that has become our trademark,” Lewis said in a statement.

Lewis has had limited involvement with Tottenham since 2022, when he transferred majority ownership of the club to his family through a trust. His pardon adds to a growing list of wealthy individuals convicted of financial crimes who have received clemency from Trump during his second term.
