 New UK Prime Minister not the leader Britain needs — Kemi Badenoch UK Conservative Party leader, Kemi Badenoch, has congratulated Andy Burnham on becoming Britain’s new prime minister but said while he is “a nice man,” the country needs a leader capable of making difficult decisions rather than “a people pleaser.” In a statement released on Monday on X following Burnham’s assumption of office, Badenoch wished the new prime minister success but vowed to hold his government accountable as Leader of the Opposition. “Today, Britain has a new Prime Minister. I wish Andy Burnham every success. Because we need a Prime Minister and a Government focused on fixing the public’s priorities,” she said.  U.S. Issues Stark Travel Warning for Niger Amid Security Threats


The United States Department of State on Friday urged American citizens to avoid all travel to the Republic of Niger, citing a perilous mix of rampant crime, civil unrest, terrorism, health risks, and widespread kidnapping.


The Level 4 "Do Not Travel" advisory highlights Niger's volatile security landscape, where armed groups operate  in vast regions, and kidnappings targeting foreigners remain a grave concern.


U.S. officials recommend that any Americans currently in Niger depart immediately using commercial options while they remain available. 


The advisory underscores ongoing challenges in the Sahel nation, which has grappled with jihadist insurgencies and political instability since a 2023 military coup.
