 “No electricity, no vote,” South Africans threaten to shun ruling party ANC Residents in Katlehong, a township outside Johannesburg, have resolved to boycott South Africa's upcoming local elections on November 4 due to long-standing failures by authorities to provide basic services like electricity. For over 20 years, around 180 households in the community have relied on illegal electrical connections pulled from neighboring areas to power their homes. Angry over the lack of formal grid infrastructure, residents are directing their frustration at the ruling African National Congress (ANC). "We have made a collective decision: no electricity, no vote," said community leader Lesiba Rankapole, 59. "We know it is illegal, but we had no choice because we cannot live without electricity.  Blake Lively seeks $161 million in damages in lawsuit against Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively is seeking $161 million in damages, claiming she suffered massive financial losses due to Justin Baldoni’s alleged smear campaign.

Court filings state that Lively lost $56.2 million in earnings from acting, producing, speaking engagements, and endorsements. Her lawyers also say her haircare brand, Blake Brown, suffered $49 million in losses, while her beverage company, Betty Buzz/Betty Booze, lost $22 million. Additionally, they claim her reputation took a $34 million hit after 65 million negative social media impressions circulated about her.

Lively and Baldoni are scheduled to face trial in March after she sued him, alleging sexual harassment on the set of their 2024 film It Ends With Us and a subsequent campaign of online smears. Baldoni had countersued, claiming $400 million in damages for defamation, but that claim was dismissed in June when a judge ruled he could not sue over statements made in a legal filing.
