 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  14-YEAR-OLD KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED IN BENUE



In a dramatic rescue operation, personnel of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards freed a 14-year-old boy from suspected kidnappers during a routine patrol on the Oweto-Otukpo road in Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) on Friday, November 29, 2025.  


Around 7:45 p.m., the security team intercepted a suspicious vehicle. On sighting the patrol, the abductors abandoned the boy at Egla, Agatu LGA, and fled into the night.  


The victim, identified as Daniel, son of Michael and Rebecca, was immediately taken to the Civil Protection Guards’ office in Obagaji, Agatu LGA, where he received medical care. Authorities confirmed that he is now in stable condition.  


During questioning the following morning, Daniel revealed key details about himself:  


- Full Name: Daniel  

- Age: 14  

- School: Contract Secondary School, Mararaba, Nasarawa State  

- Class: JSS 2  

- Residence: Mararaba Sharp Corner, Nasarawa State  

- Tribe: Idoma  


The boy explained that he does not know his parents’ phone numbers. He has since been handed over to the Nigerian Police at Obagaji for further investigation and efforts to reunite him with his family.  


Authorities are appealing to residents of Nasarawa and Benue States to circulate this information widely so that Daniel’s parents or guardians can be located quickly.
