 FG MOVES TO CUT EDUCATION COSTS, PROMOTE SUSTAINABILITY WITH REUSABLE TEXTBOOK POLICY The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled a comprehensive policy framework aimed at reducing the cost of education for parents, improving learning outcomes, and promoting sustainability in schools through the adoption of reusable, high-quality textbooks and strengthened quality assurance mechanisms. The policy, jointly issued by the Honourable Minister of Education  Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa and the Honourable Minister of State for Education Prof Suiwaba Sai'd, forms part of ongoing reforms to reposition Nigeria’s education sector and ease the financial burden on families.  14-YEAR-OLD KIDNAP VICTIM RESCUED IN BENUE



In a dramatic rescue operation, personnel of the Benue State Civil Protection Guards freed a 14-year-old boy from suspected kidnappers during a routine patrol on the Oweto-Otukpo road in Agatu Local Government Area (LGA) on Friday, November 29, 2025.  


Around 7:45 p.m., the security team intercepted a suspicious vehicle. On sighting the patrol, the abductors abandoned the boy at Egla, Agatu LGA, and fled into the night.  


The victim, identified as Daniel, son of Michael and Rebecca, was immediately taken to the Civil Protection Guards’ office in Obagaji, Agatu LGA, where he received medical care. Authorities confirmed that he is now in stable condition.  


During questioning the following morning, Daniel revealed key details about himself:  


- Full Name: Daniel  

- Age: 14  

- School: Contract Secondary School, Mararaba, Nasarawa State  

- Class: JSS 2  

- Residence: Mararaba Sharp Corner, Nasarawa State  

- Tribe: Idoma  


The boy explained that he does not know his parents’ phone numbers. He has since been handed over to the Nigerian Police at Obagaji for further investigation and efforts to reunite him with his family.  


Authorities are appealing to residents of Nasarawa and Benue States to circulate this information widely so that Daniel’s parents or guardians can be located quickly.
