 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly as Woman Killed, Suspect Also Dies Following Community Attack 


 A 38-year-old woman was killed following an alleged domestic dispute involving her 40-year-old boyfriend on 26 December 2025 at about 16h30 pm at Tjibeng village. It is reported that the woman had locked herself inside the house, fearing for her safety.


 The suspect allegedly gained entry after convincing a family member that he only wanted to speak to her. Shortly after, the suspect was seen fleeing the scene carrying a knife.


 The woman was found critically injured and was declared dead at the scene by emergency services. The victim’s brother later located the suspect and attempted to apprehend him. During the confrontation, the brother was stabbed and sustained injuries.


 The suspect was later attacked by community members near a tavern and sustained severe injuries. Emergency medical services were called, and the suspect was certified dead at the scene.
