New Zealand Rugby Player Eugene Hanna Passes Away After Match Injury The New Zealand sporting community is mourning the loss of Eugene Hanna, who has passed away at the age of 30 following a serious injury suffered during a rugby league match. The heartbreaking news was confirmed by his club, the Glenora Bears, whose chairwoman Janet Hunt shared an emotional statement on social media. According to the club, Hanna sustained a critical injury during the team’s opening game of the season against Te Atatu Roosters roughly 10 days before his passing on Tuesday, May 12. Hunt described Eugene as a valued member of the Premier Reserves squad and someone who had quickly built strong friendships within the club despite being a relatively new addition to the Bears family.
