I am most delighted to welcome you all to this briefing which as partners in public interest, provides us an opportunity to yet again interface towards intimating members of the public, the sustained and unwavering efforts of the Bauchi State Police Command towards combating crime and criminality in the State.

During the month under review, the Command has fought tirelessly in raising policing standards, which has led to significant milestones in the combat against crime and criminality.

Worthy of note is the successful operation that led to the arrest of drug dealer in Ningi LGA.

The Command has apprehended Mr. Ogbu Simon, a suspected narcotics dealer, and recovered 161kg of illicit drugs.

The estimated total value of the recovered narcotics is approximately Twelve Million, Two Hundred Thousand Naira (₦ 12,200,000.00).

On 26th November 2025 at about 2000 hours, based on credible intelligence provided by a concerned citizen, operatives from the Ningi Divisional Police Headquarters responded to reports of suspicious sacks being uploaded at a shop owned by Mr Ogbu Simon. The suspect is alleged to supply narcotics from Onitsha, Anambra State to the Ningi Local Government Area and surrounding regions.

In response to this intelligence, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ningi, CSP Surajo Ibrahim Birnin Kudu, executed a strategic raid on the shop located within Ningi town. The operation resulted in the seizure of four bags containing suspected Diazepam (D 5) and Tramadol tablets.

Furthermore, the command assigned the Operation Restore Peace (ORP) unit to conduct an exhaustive investigation and to apprehend the suspect, where they successfully arrested the suspect, who confessed to being a dealer supplying drugs to various markets within and outside Ningi.

Consequently, I affirm our unwavering commitment to combating drug-related crimes. I urge members of the public to remain calm and continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies in the prevention, mitigation, and controlling of crime and criminality. The suspect alongside the exhibit is hereby handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Bauchi for further investigation and diligent prosecution accordingly.

Distinguished members of the press, the command will not shy away from its constitutional mandate of protecting the life and property of our hard-working citizens/residents through robust synergy/partnership with all relevant stakeholders in the state.
