 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken. IGBARIAM ELECTS ENGR CHIOKWE AS PRESIDENT GENERAL FOR A TERM OF TWO YEARS. (PHOTOS).



Igbariam  Elects Engr Chiokwe As President General for a term of two years. 


Igbariam community in Anambra East Council Area has elected Mr Ifesinachi Chiokwe as President General of Igbariam Improvement Union.


The election which took place at Saint Anthony's Catholic Church field, Igbariam, saw members of Ndi Ichie, Ojiana, Irunabo, ruling council and youths of the community troop out en masse to choose among the many candidates jostling for different positions in the executive of the union.


The election conducted with Option A-4 and under the supervision of Anambra State Ministry of Chieftaincy Matters and Community Affairs and Anambra State Town Union Council, ASTUC, saw Mr Chiokwe poll 519 votes, followed by Barrister Cletus Iloegbunam who got 465 votes and Dr Onwuatuegwu Nnaeke who got 123 while Amakom Okoye trailed with 29 votes. 


Addressing Ndi Igbariam after the exercise, a representative of Ministry Of Local Government, Chieftancy and Community Affairs, Comrade Henry Nwasike commended the community for a seemless excercise and advising the winner to carry everyone along in the new government.


In his acceptance speech, the new President General, Mr Chiokwe promised Ndi Igbariam not to  disappoint them; to restore peace and attract development that will stand out. 


One of the candidates, Dr Nnaeke advised Mr Chiokwe to live up to his manifesto to the community as people are looking up to him to fulfill his promises. 


A stakeholder in the community, Chief Lawrence Anikpe commended Governor Chukwuma Soludo for the relatively peace witnessed in communities in the state stating that Igbariam is a big community with one voice and has spoken through their vote.
