Kaduna Councillors Back Gov. Uba Sani’s Vision, Commend Mamman Lagos On Local Government Reforms

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani (CON), has received a significant political endorsement as councillors from the state’s 23 local government areas declared their total support for his grassroots-driven development agenda.

The endorsement was made on Tuesday during a solidarity visit by the Forum of Kaduna State Councillors to the Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos.

The councillors expressed confidence in Governor Uba Sani’s leadership approach and reaffirmed their belief in his commitment to inclusive governance.

Representing all 255 wards across the state, the councillors pledged to align with the Senator Uba Sani Support Group (SUSSG), noting that the governor’s people-centred policies and reforms at the local government level deserve broad-based support.

Speaking on behalf of the forum, Hon. Waziri Umar of Tudun Nupawa Ward 9 in Kaduna South Local Government Area said Governor Uba Sani has shown exceptional dedication to strengthening local administration, empowering grassroots representatives and ensuring that development reaches every corner of the state.

He added that the forum dissociated itself from what it described as “self-serving political groups” working against the SUSSG, stressing that such actions undermine the collective interest of Kaduna residents and the unity agenda of the current administration.

In his response, Hon. Sadiq Mamman Lagos praised the councillors for their loyalty and solidarity, describing them as vital partners in delivering democratic dividends at the ward level.

He revealed that the 2026 draft budget of the Kaduna State Government provides for ₦100 million worth of developmental projects in each of the 255 wards, a step he said reflects Governor Uba Sani’s resolve to promote equitable and inclusive development.

The commissioner urged the councillors to remain united and steadfast in supporting the administration’s reforms, assuring them that grassroots development would continue to be a top priority.

Hon. Mamman Lagos noted that the Uba Sani administration has deliberately positioned local governments at the heart of its development agenda, emphasizing that sustainable growth can only be achieved through community-level empowerment.

He explained that ongoing reforms in the local government system are aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability and service delivery at the ward level.

The commissioner also encouraged councillors to serve as ambassadors of the governor’s vision in their communities by engaging more deeply with constituents and ensuring that government programmes address real community needs.

He assured the forum of continued policy support, guidance and capacity-building initiatives from the ministry to enable councillors perform effectively, reaffirming Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to strong democratic institutions and unity across political and ethnic divides in Kaduna State.
