Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma as he marks his 67th birthday today.


In a statement personally signed by the Governor, he lauded Governor Uzodinma’s extraordinary leadership, particularly highlighting his impactful tenure as Governor of Imo State. 

Governor Ododo praised the impressive strides made by Imo State in areas such as infrastructure development, security, and economic empowerment under the visionary leadership of Governor Uzodinma.


The Kogi State Governor noted that his Imo State counterpart’s courage, foresight, and relentless drive have set him apart as a leader of exceptional repute. 

He commended Governor Uzodinma’s ability to bring meaningful transformation to his state, ensuring that the welfare of the people remained a top priority.


Furthermore, Governor Ododo lauded Governor Uzodinma’s exemplary role as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, stating that his leadership had been instrumental in fostering unity and cooperation among the governors.
