Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  LAGOS HAG/CJ CHAMPIONS MEDIATION AS A PATH TO PEACEFUL COMMUNITIES



‎The Lagos State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro (SAN), has described mediation as a vital tool for building peaceful communities. He urged its wider adoption as an effective method for resolving disputes.

‎Speaking recently at the Ikeja Division of the IBILE Stakeholders’ Meeting organised by the Citizens' Mediation Bureau, Mr. Lawal Pedro noted that with over 20 million residents in Lagos State, conflict is inevitable and mediation is the proper way to go.


‎


‎Tracing the root of mediation back to traditional African society, the Attorney-General explained that our forefathers often settled disputes under trees or in family compounds. When siblings had disagreements, the father would bring them together to find a resolution, ensuring that both parties were left satisfied, thereby promoting peace and safety within communities.


‎


‎Reinforcing the AG’s call, Permanent Secretary of the Citizens’ Mediation Bureau, Mrs. Aderinsola Olanrewaju encouraged residents to reflect on ways to maintain peace and strengthen communal trust. She described mediation as “a dialogue-driven, people-centred, and solution-oriented dispute resolution tool that helps bind society together”.

‎Former CMB Director and keynote speaker, Mrs. Abiola Oseni called mediation “a powerful innovation for peace,” adding, “When peace thrives, all aspects of society flourish.”

‎Also addressing the event, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Mr. Hameed Oyenuga urged community stakeholders to continue playing their crucial role, noting that they remain key partners in expanding access to justice across the State.


‎


‎The IBILE Stakeholders’ Meeting series is part of the Citizens' Mediation Bureau's ongoing effort to promote peaceful, dialogue-driven communities.

Innoson Gives Out Brand New IVM G5 and Salary For Life To The Man Who Prophesied About His Vehicle Manufacturing In 1979.  Last Saturday, July 22nd the Chairman of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company Ltd, Chief Dr Innocent Ifediaso Chukwuma OFR gave out a brand new Innoson IVM G5 to Mr Ikechukwu Osakwe popularly known as Osabros who prophesied to him in 1979 that he would be the first man in Africa to manufacture vehicles and sell to different African countries.  The prophecy was given at the period the then Innocent Chukwuma could not boast of a car, talk less of manufacturing one.
