 Somali World Cup Referee Denied Entry to United States Award-winning Somali referee, Omar Artan, has been denied entry into the United States despite holding a valid visa, according to a senior official in Somalia’s sports ministry. Artan, who is set to become the first Somali referee to officiate at the FIFA World Cup finals, was stopped at Miami International Airport and subsequently returned to Istanbul, where he had been residing. The reason for the denial was not immediately disclosed. However, Somalia is among the countries affected by a travel ban introduced by the administration of Donald Trump. Reacting to the development, Ciise Aden Abshir, a senior adviser to Somalia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports and a former national team captain, described Artan as one of Africa’s most respected referees. “Omar Artan is among Africa’s most respected referees and deserves the support of the entire football community,” Abshir told AFP on Monday.  Nancy Isime Commissions Playground for Ikorodu Pupils to Mark Her 34th Birthday

 


Nollywood actress Nancy Isime marked her 34th birthday by commissioning a new playground for the pupils of Methodist Primary School, Ikorodu. 


As part of the celebration, she hosted an end-of-year party for the students and staff, highlighting her passion for children’s development, outdoor play, and creativity, describing the gesture as deeply personal, noting that playgrounds and libraries shaped her own childhood.


It has been a tradition widely known by everyone since she became rich and popular in the movie industry, to always celebrate her birthday with children.


Reflecting on her tradition of celebrating with children, Nancy Isime explained that playgrounds and libraries hold a special place in her heart. 


"As a child, reading and playing were my absolute favourite things to do, and you’d definitely find me in the play area, swinging and sliding my young stress away," she said with excitement.


She wrote on her Instagram that commissioning libraries or play areas for children yearly, are usually the highlights of her birthdays for her.


Emphasizing on the importance of physical activity for children, she stated;

"I truly believe that it’s essential for children to have less screen time and more time outside, playing and creating".


After officially opening the area "in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost," the actress was even seen joining the children on the dance floor.
