 APC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL PRESS STATEMENT ATIKU MUST EXPLAIN THE LEGAL AND FISCAL BASIS OF HIS PETROL SUBSIDY PROPOSAL At his press conference in Abuja on Friday, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar reiterated his proposed  “production subsidy” for locally refined petrol, which he said would reduce pump prices. He went further to ask President Bola Tinubu to slash the cost of diesel and petrol at the pump. That proposal raises important legal, fiscal and practical questions that he must answer. Section 205(1) of the Petroleum Industry Act 2021 provides that unrestricted free-market conditions shall determine wholesale and retail prices of petroleum products. The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, in a statement on Saturday, explained that it neither fixes pump prices nor issues administrative price templates, except where the statutory conditions for intervention are met. Obamas planned to meet Rob and Michele Reiner the night the Hollywood couple were killed

Former First Lady Michelle Obama revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that she and former President Barack Obama had planned to see Rob and Michele Reiner the night the couple was tragically killed. The Reiners were found dead from apparent knife wounds in their Brentwood home Sunday afternoon. Their 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, was arrested later that night on suspicion of the killings.

Michelle Obama described the Reiners as “some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know,” pushing back against President Trump’s comments labeling Rob Reiner “deranged” and “tortured and struggling.” She emphasized the couple’s dedication to family, fairness, and equity. The Obamas, who have long ties to Hollywood through their Higher Ground production company, expressed heartbreak over the loss. Barack Obama issued a statement mourning the couple, praising Rob Reiner’s achievements in film and television, and highlighting the couple’s lifelong commitment to purpose and inspiring others.
