 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room. PERRY BAMONTE, LONGTIME GUITARIST AND KEYBOARDIST FOR THE CURE, HAS PASSED AWAY AT THE AGE OF 65 FOLLOWING A SHORT ILLNESS AT HOME OVER CHRISTMAS.(PHOTO).


 Perry Bamonte, longtime guitarist and keyboardist for The Cure, has passed away at the age of 65 following a short illness at home over Christmas.


Born in London on September 3, 1960, he joined the band's circle in 1984 as a roadie and later became Robert Smith's guitar technician before becoming a full member in 1990. He contributed to albums including Wish (1992), Wild Mood Swings (1996), Bloodflowers (2000), and The Cure (2004), performing in hundreds of shows during his 14-year tenure until 2005.


He rejoined The Cure in 2022 for the Shows of a Lost World tour, playing dozens of concerts up to their final show in London on November 1, 2024. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the band in 2019.The band remembered him as "quiet, intense, intuitive, constant and hugely creative," affectionately known as "Teddy," and a warm-hearted vital part of their story.
