Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing. Pittsburgh bakers make 83,427 cookies in world record attempt

A Pittsburgh-area Facebook community coordinated a world record attempt that resulted in the baking of 83,427 cookies for a massive cookie exchange.

The event, organized by The Wedding Cookie Table Community Facebook page, brought together 583 bakers working in 67 teams from 14 U.S. states and New Zealand. At the Washington County Fairgrounds, the teams displayed all 83,427 cookies, ultimately exchanging 73,835 of them.

The cookies were Christmas-themed, featuring designs like snowballs, Santa Claus, and reindeer. The creator of the community described the event as a festive and fun celebration of the holiday season. Evidence from the attempt will be submitted to Guinness World Records in hopes of establishing a new category for the largest Christmas cookie exchange.
