 Nigeria's Defence Minister Summons Service Chiefs Amid Surge in Attacks on Military Bases Nigeria's Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (Rtd), has urgently summoned the nation's top military leaders to a high-level meeting at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja. The session addresses the escalating attacks targeting military installations, particularly in the North East region. The meeting includes key figures such as: - Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede - Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shaibu - Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke - Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abass - Representatives from the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) The summons comes in response to recent deadly assaults by terrorists on military bases in the North East.  Prayer of the Faithful said in Igbo language at Pope Leo’s first Christmas Vigil Mass at the Vatican


A moment of cultural recognition unfolded at the Vatican on December 24 during the Christmas Vigil Mass, as the Igbo language featured prominently in the liturgy.


One of the intentions during the Prayer of the Faithful at the Christmas Vigil Mass celebrated by Pope Leo XIV at St Peter’s Basilica was read in Igbo, acknowledging the contributions of Igbo Catholics within the global Church.


The inclusion of the Igbo language highlighted the diversity of the Catholic faithful worldwide and underscored the Church’s emphasis on universality during the Christmas celebration at the Vatican.


In addition, an Igbo couple participated in the Eucharistic Procession, joining others in presenting the offertory gifts to the Pope during the Mass.
