 Anambra Government Reaffirms Mega City Drive, Demolishes Scores of Illegal Structures By Ruth Orji  The Anambra State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the ongoing regeneration drive and restoration of sanity across the state through enforcement exercises and demolition of illegal structures statewide. The exercise was led by the Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Barrister Chijioke Ojukwu, on July 8, in line with the Physical Planning Law of Anambra State. Stating that it is no longer business as usual, the commissioner urged residents to take every notice received from the ministry seriously and comply promptly with planning regulations henceforth. He, however, said several eviction notices had been served but were taken with a pinch of salt, adding that demolitions followed because structures defaced the environment or obstructed pedestrian walkways. SENATE HAS ASKED THE NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER TO INVESTIGATE FAKE REPORTS CIRCULATED ON THE HEALTH OF NIGERIA'S PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE, GODSWILL AKPABIO. (PHOTO).

Senate has asked the National Security Adviser to investigate fake reports circulated on the health of Nigeria's President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio. 


This resolution was adopted Tuesday at plenary following a point of order raised by Senator Titus Zam referencing fake reports circulated on media platforms that the President of the Senate suffered a health emergency and was rushed to a hospital in London.


Senator Zam says such misinformation is unacceptable and urged that those responsible should be fished out and made to face the law to serve as deterrent.


In his response, the President of the Senate who presided at plenary said it was becoming increasingly difficult to regulate what the media publishes, particularly as it relates to politicians, describing contents on some platforms  as "garbage in garbage out".
