 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  SHETTIMA, ALIA, DIGNITARIES GRACE AKUME'S SON'S WEDDING IN BENUE

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Sunday hosted a grand wedding ceremony for his son, Samuel Aondoakura, in Benue State, drawing top political figures from across the country.


The high-profile event came just days after Akume welcomed his new wife, Zaynab Ngohemba, into his family home.


Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the ceremony as the representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscoring the importance of the occasion.


The Vice President’s presence was confirmed in a statement issued via X by his spokesman and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mr Stanley Nkwocha.


“Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has arrived in Benue State to grace the wedding reception of the son of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume,” Nkwocha said.

He explained that the wedding joined Samuel Aondoakura Akume and Deborah Ershima, daughter of Engineer Msula Atoga, in holy matrimony.


According to Nkwocha, the Vice President was received by Senator Akume and the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, alongside other prominent dignitaries.


The ceremony attracted a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers and well-wishers, turning the wedding into a major social and political event in the state.
