 El-Rufai to remain in custody as court adjourns bail application to April 14 Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of a Federal High Court in Kaduna has adjourned the hearing of the bail application filed by former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, to April 14th. The bail application of the former governor came up before the court today. April 1. The court adjourned the case after listening to arguments from both the defence and prosecution  El-Rufai was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court ordered that he remain in ICPC custody pending the hearing of his bail application on the fixed date. The former governor arrived at the court premises around 9:00 a.m. in a black Hilux vehicle, accompanied by DSS officials.

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on Sunday hosted a grand wedding ceremony for his son, Samuel Aondoakura, in Benue State, drawing top political figures from across the country.


The high-profile event came just days after Akume welcomed his new wife, Zaynab Ngohemba, into his family home.


Vice President Kashim Shettima attended the ceremony as the representative of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, underscoring the importance of the occasion.


The Vice President’s presence was confirmed in a statement issued via X by his spokesman and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Mr Stanley Nkwocha.


“Vice President Kashim Shettima, representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has arrived in Benue State to grace the wedding reception of the son of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume,” Nkwocha said.

He explained that the wedding joined Samuel Aondoakura Akume and Deborah Ershima, daughter of Engineer Msula Atoga, in holy matrimony.


According to Nkwocha, the Vice President was received by Senator Akume and the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, alongside other prominent dignitaries.


The ceremony attracted a large gathering of political leaders, traditional rulers and well-wishers, turning the wedding into a major social and political event in the state.
