Southern Kaduna Group Declares Support For Senator Katung, Condemns “Divisive Rhetoric”

A media coalition under the banner of SMK Media has issued a strong statement condemning what it describes as attempts by certain individuals to “masquerade as group representatives” in order to criticize Senator Katung.

In the statement made available to KADUNA POLITICAL AFFAIRS on Sunday, the group said residents of Southern Kaduna are “no longer willing to tolerate attacks designed to undermine their elected representatives,” adding that Senator Katung has been working “tirelessly” to advance the development of the region.

According to SMK Media, recent commentaries targeting the senator were aimed at distorting the public narrative and creating unnecessary division.

The group urged youth organizations and community leaders to instead prioritize “constructive engagement, meaningful dialogue, and collective progress.”

“Southern Kaduna deserves better. We stand in solidarity with Senator Katung and reject any attempt to malign his character or reputation,” the statement read.

The group further cautioned actors it accused of attempting to “hijack the narrative,” saying the people of Southern Kaduna remain united behind ongoing efforts to foster growth and development in the area.

Part of the statement reads:

"Southern Kaduna Stands United: We will no longer tolerate individuals masquerading as representatives of groups to attack and malign our hardworking Senator. We stand in solidarity with Senator [Katung] and his efforts to develop our region. Let's focus on constructive dialogue and progress, rather than personal attacks and divisive rhetoric, Southern Kaduna deserves better.

"We, the good people of Southern Kaduna, are fed up with individuals who hide behind the cloak of group leadership to attack and undermine our elected representatives. Senator [Katung] has been working tirelessly to represent our interests and develop our region. We stand in solidarity with him and reject any attempts to malign his character and reputation.

"We urge our youth groups and community leaders to focus on constructive engagement and meaningful dialogue, rather than resorting to personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric. Let's work together to build a brighter future for Southern Kaduna, rather than tearing each other down.

"To those who seek to hijack the narrative and divide our people, we say: Southern Kaduna will not be swayed by your antics. We know our senator is working hard for us, and we appreciate his efforts."
