Meta to end end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages Meta is ending end-to-end encryption for Instagram direct messages, a feature the company says will no longer be available after May 8, 2026. Unlike WhatsApp, Instagram never offered encryption to all users or as a default; only select users in certain regions could opt in on a per-chat basis. A Meta spokesperson explained that the decision comes due to low adoption. “Very few people were opting in to end-to-end encrypted messaging in DMs, so we’re removing this option from Instagram in the coming months,” the spokesperson said. “Anyone who wants to keep messaging with end-to-end encryption can easily do that on WhatsApp.” Meta’s messaging strategy has shifted multiple times over the years.  Woman charged after Mississippi Walmart employees report finding razor blades in bread loaves

Camille Benson, 33, of Texas, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly inserting razor blades into loaves of bread at two Walmart stores in Biloxi, Mississippi. She faces a charge of attempted mayhem, and her bond is set at $100,000.

The incidents came to light after customers discovered razor blades in bread purchased from a Walmart Supercenter on Dec. 5 and a Walmart Neighborhood Market on Dec. 8. Following another complaint on Sunday, employees at the Supercenter found several additional loaves had been tampered with. Police were notified on Monday and are investigating the incidents.

Authorities urged anyone who purchased bread from the affected stores to inspect their loaves and report any findings. Walmart stated that all potentially affected products have been removed and inspected, emphasizing that customer safety is a top priority. The company encouraged anyone with tampered products to discard them and return to the store for a full refund. Police noted they do not believe any other stores have been targeted.
