 Zango Kataf, Jaba PDP Committees Hold Reconciliation Meeting Ahead Of 2027 Elections The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Working Committees in Zango Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas have held a strategic reconciliation meeting aimed at strengthening party unity and positioning the party for success in the 2027 general elections. The meeting, held on Friday, July 31, 2026, in Jaba Local Government Area, was jointly chaired by the PDP Chairmen of Jaba and Zango Kataf LGAs, Sabastine David Bijiri and Martins Markus Koyah. It brought together party executives, stakeholders, ward officials, elders, youth and women leaders, as well as members from both local government areas. Speaking at the meeting, the Zango Kataf PDP Chairman commended party leaders and members for supporting the zoning of the party’s House of Representatives ticket to Zango Kataf Local Government Area.  Woman dies and officers injured in fire at New Jersey senior living complex

A fire at a senior apartment complex in Bayonne, New Jersey, left one resident dead and injured several police officers.

The blaze erupted around 7:30 a.m. at the 11-story building on 537 Avenue A, with smoke seen billowing from the third floor, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. Firefighters discovered an unresponsive woman inside a bedroom and rushed her to Hudson Regional Hospital Bayonne, where she was pronounced dead. She was later identified as 82-year-old Irene Clark.

Three other residents and eight police officers were treated for smoke inhalation at the hospital, while four additional people received care at the scene. Residents evacuated to a nearby community center before being allowed back into the building later in the day.

Officials said the cause of the fire was not immediately known, and there was no indication of foul play. The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are conducting an ongoing investigation.
