 GOVERNOR ABBA  YUSUF SACKS  KANO STATE HEAD OF SERVICE   The Executive Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has relieved the State Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa, of his appointment with immediate effect. In a statement  by the Director General, Media and Publicity to the Governor, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the decision is part of the ongoing efforts by the present administration to reposition the state civil service for greater efficiency, discipline, and improved service delivery across all government institutions. Governor Yusuf expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his contributions and dedication to the service of the State  The statement further directed that Bilkisu Shehu Maimota, the Permanent Secretary, Admin and General Services at the Cabinet Office, to serve in an  acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive Head of Service.  Woman dies and officers injured in fire at New Jersey senior living complex

A fire at a senior apartment complex in Bayonne, New Jersey, left one resident dead and injured several police officers.

The blaze erupted around 7:30 a.m. at the 11-story building on 537 Avenue A, with smoke seen billowing from the third floor, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office. Firefighters discovered an unresponsive woman inside a bedroom and rushed her to Hudson Regional Hospital Bayonne, where she was pronounced dead. She was later identified as 82-year-old Irene Clark.

Three other residents and eight police officers were treated for smoke inhalation at the hospital, while four additional people received care at the scene. Residents evacuated to a nearby community center before being allowed back into the building later in the day.

Officials said the cause of the fire was not immediately known, and there was no indication of foul play. The Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force and the Bayonne Fire Department are conducting an ongoing investigation.
