 OPERATION ENDURING PEACE: TROOPS RESPOND TO DISTRESS CALL IN BASSA, REAFFIRM COMMITMENT TO PEACE AND SECURITY Headquarters Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE (JTF-OPEP), has noted the circulation of a viral video concerning an encounter between troops and personnel of the Nigeria Police Force in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State. The Headquarters wishes to clarify the operational circumstances surrounding the incident.  On 20 October 2026, troops of Sector 3, Operation ENDURING PEACE, responded to a distress call reporting sporadic gunfire in Mai Farin Moto, Maraban Dere and adjoining communities, alongside reports of the killing of a local resident, Mr Adamu Suleiman. The troops were deployed to the affected area to assess the security situation, establish the circumstances of the incident, prevent escalation and protect lives and property.  2027: Defeating Tinubu requires ‘red eye’ not court action — Datti Baba Ahmed


A former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Datti Baba-Ahmed, says to defeat President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general elections requires red eye and not court action.


Baba-Ahmed said this in a video shared by an X user, @Dejii, criticising Nigeria’s electoral and judicial systems.


He also alleged that the Constitution was breached during the 2023 presidential election.


“I told Peter Obi, the Supreme Court cannot give you governor and give you presidency. For God’s sake, stand up and do something. The Nigerian Constitution was clearly breached,” he said.


The Kaduna-born politician equally drew parallels with the June 12 struggle, stating that political actors in the past aggressively defended their interests and mobilised Nigerians over long periods to challenge perceived injustice.


Baba-Ahmed, while expressing displeasure over what he described as constitutional abuse, acknowledged that those in power were effective at organising and protecting their interests.


The chieftain of the Labour Party maintained that any opposition seeking to unseat Tinubu must be prepared to confront the system decisively.


“You must show your red eyes if you’re going to defeat Tinubu, because on that day that they are declaring the result, the people declaring a fake result are criminals, and those who are stopping the declaration of fake results are good citizens” he added.
