Man brutalises his pregnant wife in Anambra  In another case of domestic violence, a pregnant woman was brutally beaten by her husband in Ichi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra State. The mother of three identified as Chinelo Francis, from Ebonyi State, said trouble began when she requested money from her husband, Peter, to prepare food.  According to the young woman, she had already bought vegetable with the profit she made from her shop. Peter, also from Ebonyi, claimed he didn’t make money that day and took the children home.  He returned to her shop at around 8:00 PM and insisted she close up and come home with him.  She refused, explaining that the time was when she typically made most of her sales.  Later, she closed up her shop, went home at 9:30 PM, prepared the children for bed, and retired. The interviewer urged her to go straight to the point, asking when the assault occurred. The woman said it happened that night.  The attack left...

PRESS RELEASE

ASSAULT ON A LAWYER BY OCHA BRIGADE

I was at CPS Awka attending to a client when I got a call from Barr Charles Ifeanyi's number. I picked up and the voice identified himself as the brother to Barr Charles & that he was instructed to call me. I notified him that I wasn't disposed and sent him the number of the Secretary of the Human rights Committee NBA AWKA BRANCH.

The pictures below depicts the face of the lawyer (Barr Charles Ifeanyi) that was beaten by the ocha brigade without any good reason.

When the Human rights team of NBA AWKA BRANCH got there, They alleged that they were on a duty of enforcement and the lawyer challenged them.

He was locked up in their cell with his brother that came to find out what transpired.

Even with the presence of the Human rights committee of NBA Awka ,they were denied access and threatened that they would lock them up where they locked up Onye eze Jesus.

That's the level of impunity that has been witnessed and meted out on by the Ocha Brigade for a long time now.

They were using Agu na eche mba to harass people. Even as the lawyers stood, the Agu na eche mba asked the ocha brigade if they should handle the lawyers from the Human rights committee as well in the same manner.

I am calling the attention of Law Mefor and the Nigeria Police Force to this persistent impunity that has been left uncurtailed and unchecked.

The Branch condemns vehemently the actions of the Ocha brigade team while reiterating that Steps will be taken to ensure that those culpable face the music. This impunity and lawlessness by Ocha brigade, Agu na eche Mba and their likes which has persisted under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo administration has to stop.
