 NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable. AWKA SOUTH MAYOR PLEADS WITH AWKA INDIGENES IN DIASPORA TO SUPPORT AND COLLABORATE WITH GOVERNOR SOLUDO IN PROMOTING ANAMBRA STATE.(PHOTOS ).


 Awka South Mayor pleads with Awka indigenes in Diaspora to Support and collaborate with governor Soludo in promoting Anambra state.


The Mayor of Awka South Local Government Area, Prince Chinedu Okafor, has called on Awka indigenes in the diaspora to collaborate with the Anambra State Government in promoting inclusive growth and sustainable development, particularly within Awka communities.


Prince Okafor made the appeal during the handover ceremony of 50 hospital beds donated by the Awka Union in Houston, Texas, to the Chukwuma Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital (COOU), Amaku. He described the donation as timely and impactful, noting that it reflects the union’s strong commitment to community wellbeing and improved healthcare delivery.


The Mayor emphasized the importance of collective responsibility and strategic collaboration, stressing that diaspora-led initiatives play a critical role in complementing government efforts to strengthen key public institutions.


Reaffirming his commitment to people-centered governance, Prince Okafor restated the determination of the Awka South Local Government to deepen the Public-Private-Community Partnership (PPCP) framework as a key driver of sustainable development and long-term prosperity in the area.
