 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday. Bauchi Police Arrest 28-Year-Old Male for Criminal Intimidation, Assault, and Rape


... As CP Omolori Reiterates That Justice Will Not Be Tampered With


On 31/12/2025 at about 1042hrs, one Baffa'ji Muhammed 'm' reported at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Alkaleri, that on 30/12/2025 at about 1830hrs, one Baffa'ji Abba 'm' aged 28yrs (same address with the complainant), lured his biological daughter (name withheld) aged 8yrs of into a bathroom and forcefully had carnal knowledge of her through both her vagina and anus for about five times in a single day against her will.


On receipt of the report, a team of detectives led by CSP Kadiri Danjuma, DPO Alkaleri, swiftly visited the scene, moved the victim to General Hospital Alkaleri for immediate medical attention, and arrested the suspect.


During interrogation, the suspect willingly confessed to the crime without much ado.


The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu psc(+), mni, has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to conduct a discreet and diligent, investigation-based evidence gathering to explore the intricacies associated with the case.


The suspect will eventually be profiled and charged to court for the established offences.
