Boxer Gervonta Davis arrested on charges of attempted kidnapping and battery

Professional boxer Gervonta “Tank” Davis remained in a Miami jail Thursday after being arrested on charges including attempted kidnapping, false imprisonment, and battery, according to court records. Davis was taken into custody on Wednesday in Miami’s Design District by a fugitive task force, with local police noting the arrest stemmed from an incident at a Miami Gardens business on October 27, 2025.

A lawyer representing Davis did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The 31-year-old fighter has faced previous legal issues in South Florida, including a domestic violence arrest last summer that was later dropped. Davis had been scheduled to face Jake Paul in a November bout, but the fight was canceled following the filing of a lawsuit against him in Miami.

Hailing from Baltimore, Davis is widely regarded as one of the top pound-for-pound boxers in the sport. The WBA lightweight champion began his professional career with an undefeated streak of 30 wins, including 28 knockouts, and has drawn sold-out crowds in major cities such as New York, Washington, and Las Vegas thanks to his powerful punching and aggressive style.
