 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  FCT police arraigns eleven over murder of Arise TV reporter, Somto Maduagwu and her security guard


The FCT Police Command today, January 21, arraigned eleven (11) suspects linked to the m#rder of Ms. Somtochukwu Christella Maduagwu, Esq., an Anchor, Reporter, and Producer with ARISE News, and Mr. Barnabas Danlami, a security guard,  k!lled during a robbery incident at Unique Apartments, Katampe Extension, Mabushi, Abuja, on 29th September 2025.


A statement from SP Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the command oday January 21, said the the suspects identified as Shamsu Hassan, ⁠Sani Sirajo, ⁠Hassan Isah, ⁠Abubakar Alkamu, ⁠Abdulsalam Saleh, ⁠Suleiman Badamasi, ⁠Zaharadeen Mohammed, ⁠Musa Umar (aka “Small”), ⁠Mashkur Jamil, ⁠Suleiman Sani and Abubakar Usman, were arraigned on a nine (9) count charge including criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, and murder. 


She said the matter has been adjourned to February 2026 for further proceedings.
