Gmail experiencing problems with spam and message misclassification

Gmail users are experiencing widespread issues on Saturday, with many reporting problems with email sorting and spam warnings. According to Google Workspace’s status dashboard, the disruptions began around 5 a.m. Pacific, affecting inbox organization and the accuracy of spam filtering.

Some users noted that emails normally sorted into Promotions, Social, or Updates folders were appearing in their Primary inbox, while messages from known senders were incorrectly flagged with spam warnings. Google stated it is actively working to resolve the problem and advised users to continue following best practices when handling messages from unknown senders.
