Representatives of the people of Kajuru Local Government Area have expressed deep concern over the recent kidnapping incident in Kurmin Wali village, describing the event as distressing and traumatic for the affected families and the wider community.

In a joint statement by Hon. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu, Member of the House of Representatives for Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency, and Hon. Usman Danlami Stingo, Member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly representing Kajuru Constituency, the lawmakers sympathised with the victims and residents of Kurmin Wali, noting that the incident has severely shaken the community’s sense of safety.

They stressed that no family should be left in uncertainty over the fate of loved ones and reaffirmed their solidarity with those affected.

The statement disclosed that since the incident occurred, the Member representing Chikun–Kajuru Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Fidelix Joseph Bagudu, alongside other representatives, has remained in constant engagement with community leaders, stakeholders, and affected families.

According to the lawmakers, these engagements are aimed at offering support, mobilising assistance, and ensuring that the immediate needs and concerns of constituents are addressed.

The representatives also commended the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Dr. Uba Sani, CON, for his prompt visit to Kurmin Wali to commiserate with residents and assess the situation firsthand.

They described the governor’s visit as reassuring and a clear demonstration of the government’s commitment to standing with the people during difficult times.

They further acknowledged Governor Uba Sani’s assurances that the Kaduna State Government, in collaboration with the Federal Government, is committed to securing the safe return of all abducted persons.

The lawmakers noted that the governor’s coordination with the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Honourable Minister of Defence, and security agencies has renewed hope among affected families and the wider Kajuru community.

The statement welcomed the approval for the establishment of a military formation in Kurmin Wali, following the governor’s request to the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd).

The representatives said the move would significantly enhance security in Kurmin Wali and surrounding rural and agrarian communities.

They also praised the governor’s commitment to the long-term development of the area, citing his announcement of a proposed hospital and the construction of an access road to the community.

According to them, these initiatives underscore the link between security, development, and human dignity, which they said remains central to the Kaduna Peace Model.

The representatives expressed gratitude to the National Security Adviser and the Minister of Defence for their roles in efforts aimed at securing the release of the abducted persons and restoring peace in the area.

They appealed to residents of Kurmin Wali and the entire Kajuru Local Government Area to remain calm, patient, and united, while urging continued cooperation with security agencies.
