 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  Noah Wyle recently spoke about reconnecting with his longtime friend and former ER costar George Clooney. 

In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE at the 2026 AARP Movies for Grownups Awards in Los Angeles on January 10, the 54-year-old actor shared that he and Clooney, 64, catch up whenever their busy schedules allow, picking up conversations seamlessly from where they left off.


Wyle described Clooney as a meaningful "touchstone figure" in his life, someone who appears at important moments. At the event, the two presented awards to each other: Wyle honored Clooney for Best Actor in a film for his role in Jay Kelly, while Clooney presented Wyle with the equivalent honor in the TV category for his performance in The Pitt, which also won for Best TV Series or Limited Series.


The reunion highlighted their mutual admiration and the strong connection formed during their time on the iconic medical drama ER, which aired from 1994 to 2009. Wyle has credited Clooney with teaching him valuable lessons in kindness, leadership, and professionalism that he continues to apply in his career.
