Trump issues pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer after insider trading conviction    President Donald Trump has issued a full pardon to former Republican congressman Stephen Buyer, who served nearly two years in prison after being convicted of insider trading tied to post-congressional consulting work. Buyer was sentenced in 2023 to 22 months in prison for illegal stock trades made while working as a consultant and lobbyist. OVER A DOZEN TRAIN CARS DERAIL NEAR TEXAS-LOUISIANA BORDER. (PHOTO).

Over a dozen train cars derail near Texas-Louisiana border

Investigators are working to determine what caused a Union Pacific train to derail Friday night near West Orange, Texas, close to the Louisiana border.

The derailment occurred near State Highway 87, prompting authorities to block the roadway while crews responded. More than a dozen cars were involved, though no injuries were reported. West Orange Volunteer Fire Department Assistant Chief Simmie Gibson III confirmed that none of the derailed cars were leaking.

By Saturday morning, a Union Pacific spokesperson said 17 cars had derailed from the 39-car train, including three carrying hazardous materials, but none of the hazardous cargo spilled. The derailment did not impact the railroad’s main line, and cleanup efforts were already underway as investigators began examining the cause.

West Orange, a town of fewer than 4,000 residents, sits just across the border from Louisiana and about 105 miles northeast of Houston.
