 South Africa says US misrepresented its policies after visa curbs South Africa's foreign ministry said on Wednesday that it ‌had noted with concern U.S. visa restrictions on some people from South Africa announced by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio a day earlier. The foreign ministry added in a statement that ⁠the U.S. announcement aligned with "the mischaracterisation of South Africa's domestic policies by fringe groups". "We maintain that challenges in our bilateral relations with the USA can only be resolved by constructive engagement through state actors on both sides of the diplomatic channel not unilateral acts," the statement said, Reuters reported. Trump has repeatedly criticized ‌South ⁠Africa since the start of his second term for what he falsely claims is the racial persecution of its white minority, citing affirmative action laws aimed at ⁠addressing the inequality that has persisted since apartheid.  Peter Obi, in company of Ebonyi and Enugu former governors visits Nwobodo in Enugu 


Labour party Presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi, held a closed door meeting with the former governor of Old Anambra State, Chief Jim Nwobodo.


Obi, arrived the Amechi, Nkanu West country home of the Nwobodo at 1.55pm in company of the former governors Sam Egwu(Ebonyi state), Okwy Nwodo (Enugu State), Senator Ben Ndi Obi and Senator Gilbert Nnaji, among others.


Although details of the meeting is being awaited, it is believed that Obi who formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) last week, may have come to solicit the support of Nwobodo on his new platform.


Obi has not hidden his interest to contest the presidency of the country. He believes that the ADC would offer him the right platform to contest the position in 2027.


The meeting is coming closely after the senator representing Abia North, Senator Orji Kalu, and Enugu Governor, Peter Mbah, held a closed door meeting with Nwobodo on the politics of the southeast region in 2027.
