The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble.  Roger Allers, co-director of The Lion King, dies at 76

Roger Allers, the acclaimed animator, writer, and director behind some of Disney’s most beloved films, has died at the age of 76.

Allers co-directed the original The Lion King alongside Rob Minkoff and contributed to other Disney classics, including Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, The Emperor’s New Groove, and Brother Bear. Dave Bossert, an award-winning filmmaker and longtime friend, confirmed Allers’ passing in a social media post Sunday, saying he had been traveling in Egypt the week before his death. Bossert described Allers as “an extraordinarily gifted artist and filmmaker” and “one of the kindest people you could hope to know and work alongside.”

Allers, an Oscar nominee, held credits as an animator, character designer, artist, and director across numerous Disney projects. Disney CEO Bob Iger called him “a creative visionary whose many contributions to Disney will live on for generations to come,” noting that his work helped define a pivotal era of animation. Iger added that Allers’ storytelling, character creation, and ability to blend emotion and music produced films that continue to inspire audiences worldwide.
