 FG Reaffirms Commitment To End Malaria, Strengthens Domestic Health Financing The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says the Federal Government is determined to eliminate malaria and strengthen domestic financing for healthcare to reduce Nigeria's dependence on external donors.  He stated this while receiving the Board of Trustees of Malaria Consortium on a courtesy visit to the ministry in Abuja.  The delegation visited to congratulate Nigeria on reducing malaria parasite prevalence among children aged six to 59 months from 42 percent in 2010 to 15 percent in 2025, appreciate the government's partnership with Malaria Consortium, and introduce its new board members.  Body of drowned boy recovered at Letaba River, Selwane Village


 The boy who drowned yesterday at the Letaba River in Selwane Village has been found. The body was recovered today following an extensive search by police divers.


 It is alleged that three boys were swimming while attempting to cross the river when one of them struggled and failed to make it across.


 Police and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were alerted and responded to the scene yesterday evening. A search operation was initiated but was suspended as police divers do not operate at night.


 The search resumed in the morning of today, 10 January 2026, after divers were activated, leading to the recovery of the boy’s body. Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
