Mexico says two US federal agents killed in crash were not authorized for operations inside country  Mexico’s government says two U.S. federal agents killed in a northern border-region crash were not authorized to take part in any operations on Mexican soil, raising new questions about their role in a cross-border drug lab mission. Authorities say the agents were returning from an operation targeting a clandestine drug facility in Chihuahua when their vehicle, traveling as part of a convoy, went off a ravine and exploded last weekend. Two Mexican officers also died in the incident. U.S. officials have confirmed the two Americans were CIA personnel, though their agency has declined to comment on the circumstances.  Trump advisers meet Putin envoy in Paris to discuss Ukraine strategy

President Trump’s advisers, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, met on Wednesday in Paris with Russian envoy Kirill Dmitriev to discuss the U.S. plan for peace in Ukraine. The meeting came after the U.S. and Ukraine had reportedly reached an agreement on nearly all aspects of Trump’s proposal, with the White House seeking a clear response from Russian President Vladimir Putin. So far, Putin has given no public indication that he is ready to agree to or seriously consider the plan.

The Paris meeting followed two days of intensive negotiations in which Witkoff and Kushner met with senior Ukrainian and European officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of the U.K., France, and Germany. Talks centered on security guarantees for Ukraine and potential territorial concessions in the eastern Donbas region. Zelensky said Thursday that the U.S.-Ukraine security guarantees agreement is “essentially ready for finalization at the highest level” with Trump. Ukrainian officials indicated that the U.S. will now engage directly with Russia regarding the proposal. Zelensky added that pressure on Russia must continue alongside ongoing diplomatic efforts. Discussions are underway for a possible meeting between Zelensky and Trump next week in the U.S. or during the World Economic Forum in Davos to finalize the security guarantees deal.
