 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  Zangon Kataf Council Announces Death Of Former Chairman, Hon. Francis Sani Zimbo


The Zangon Kataf Local Government Council has announced the death of Hon. Francis Sani Amgwa, popularly known as Zimbo, the immediate past Chairman of the Council and Special Adviser to the Kaduna State Governor on Industrial Training.


Zimbo reportedly passed away after a period of illness. 


Until his death, he served as a key aide to the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, contributing to policies and initiatives in the area of industrial training and human capital development.


During his tenure as Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government, Hon. Amgwa was widely credited with driving developmental initiatives, strengthening community relations, and promoting peace across the various communities within the local government area. 


He was known for his grassroots engagement, political commitment, and dedication to public service.


Described as a bridge-builder and a leader deeply connected to the people, Hon. Amgwa earned widespread respect for his passion for empowerment and his ability to relate with ordinary citizens. 


Many community members and political associates have described his passing as a significant loss to Zangon Kataf Local Government, Southern Kaduna, and Kaduna State at large.


The Council extended its condolences to the deceased’s family, friends, political associates, and the government and people of Kaduna State.


Funeral arrangements, according to the Council, will be announced at a later date.


Hon. Francis Sani Amgwa is survived by family members and leaves behind a legacy of service and commitment to community development.
