 Former Kennedy Center employees allege leadership delayed roof repairs before citing safety issues in closure decision Former Kennedy Center employees allege that the venue’s leadership knew about serious structural problems well before citing newly discovered hazards as the reason for its abrupt closure this month. The claims were outlined in a letter to Congress from a lawyer representing anonymous whistleblowers. The letter accuses the center’s executive director and chief operating officer, Matt Floca, of failing to prioritize roof repairs and stopping a funded repair plan in April. Floca disputes the allegations, saying recent inspections revealed that water damage had spread farther into the building than officials previously knew. In a September court declaration, Floca cited “acute risks to public safety” following an inspection that found deterioration in a roof terrace canopy and a partial ceiling collapse.  16 Abducted In Late-Night Attack On Southern Kaduna Community


Residents of Bomjok community in Kurmin Gwaza, Kwaturu Ward of Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State, have raised alarm following a late-night attack by suspected bandits that resulted in the abduction of 16 persons.


The incident reportedly occurred at about 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2025. 


According to local sources, the attackers operated in the community for over two hours before leaving with their victims.


Among those abducted are women, men, and children, including a nursing mother, three 13-year-olds, a 10-year-old child, and a four-month-old baby.


The victims have been identified as:

Mama Genesis (woman)


Blessing Daniel (nursing mother)


Patience Adua (woman)


Jennifer Adamu (lady)


Dina Adua (lady)


Zinom Adamu (man)


Justice Yakubu (man)


Abel Edward (man)


Daniel Peter (man)


Tukur Peter (man)


Tabitha Adamu (13-year-old girl)


John Adua (13-year-old boy)


Thank God Joseph (13-year-old boy)


Dominic Markus (10-year-old boy)


Stephen Daniel (4-month-old baby)


A community source said the abductors are believed to be demanding ransom for the victims’ release.

However, families of those kidnapped reportedly lack the financial means to meet any such demand.


As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation regarding their whereabouts or any rescue operation. 


Residents are calling on security agencies and relevant authorities to urgently intervene to ensure the safe return of the victims.
