 A Mother's Day Nightmare in Princeton, Illinois. A 3-year-old boy was struck by gunfire as police burst into a barricaded room, ending a frightening hostage situation. Multiple agencies responded to the Hummingbird Mobile Home Park in Princeton, Illinois, on Sunday, May 10th at 2:42 a.m. The initial call went out as a domestic disturbance but officers discovered much worse.  42-year-old, Anthony Rodriguez, had barricaded himself in a room armed with a knife. Anthony had taken several people as hostages, including Aurora Almanza and her 3-year-old son.  Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Bureau County Sheriff's Office, Illinois State Police and  the Princeton Police Department.  Authorities attempted to negotiate but ultimately rushed the room when they heard screaming coming from inside.  Officials have reported that officers fired shots as they entered the room.  23-YEAR-OLD KILLED IN BENUE OVER PALM FRUIT DISPUTE, SUSPECT FLEES 


18th February, 2026 


A 23-year-old man has died following a violent altercation with his neighbour over palm fruit harvesting in Benue State.


The incident occurred on February 16 at about 2:20 p.m. in Pass Brother Community, Guma Local Government Area.


According to sources, the deceased, identified as David Oraade, allegedly confronted a 30-year-old neighbour, Felix Cephas, accusing him of harvesting palm fruits from trees said to belong to his family.


The disagreement reportedly escalated into a physical fight during which the suspect allegedly inflicted serious injuries on the victim.


David was rushed to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital for medical treatment but was later pronounced dead.


His remains have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue.


Police sources say the suspect fled the scene shortly after the incident and is currently at large.


Authorities have launched a manhunt, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the fatal clash are ongoing.
