"Oh well guess she gonna d*e a slow painful death known that you ain’t do s*** to help her you have one hour to come up with the money or its bye bye tay.”
The Metropolitan Police Department received a frantic call regarding a kidnapping with a ransom back in December, 2025.
When officers spoke with the caller, she showed them a photo of her friend, 36-year-old Shante Sanders, gagged and tied to a chair. The caller also showed officers a text message that accompanied the photo. The text that was sent from Shante's phone and stated that Shante would be k*lled unless she paid $500 for her release.
After receiving the information, investigators did pretty much the first thing any law enforcement officer would do; they tracked Shante Sanders' phone.
This led officers to the Petworth neighborhood of D.C. As they continued tracking the phone, it eventually led them to an apartment. When officers knocked on the door, they discovered Shante Sanders inside hanging out with two sisters, 42-year-old Nordia Coy, and 34-year-old Asia Coy.
Shante Sanders was completely unharmed and wearing the same clothing she had on in the abduction/ransom photo.
When questioned about the photo and message to her friend Shante, told officers she was "drunk and high and didn't remember trying to extort her friend."
Police then questioned the Coy sisters. One of the sisters said it must have been her 13-year-old son just playing around. (What?)
All three were ultimately arrested and are facing extortion charges. These charges could carry up to a 20-year sentence.
