Attention-seeking Food Influencer Dies After Eating ‘Devil Crab’ for Social Media Clout
Philippine authorities have warned the public to be cautious after a food influencer reportedly died from consuming a poisonous crustacean known as a “devil crab.”
The victim, 51-year-old Emma Amit, allegedly ate the toxic shellfish while filming content for social media, according to Viral Press.
In the video, Amit and her friends were seen harvesting shellfish from a mangrove forest on February 4 near her home in Puerto Princesa, a coastal town in Palawan.
Officials say the incident highlights the dangers of consuming unfamiliar seafood and have urged the public to seek proper guidance before trying wild or exotic species.
