Bandits Kill Two, Reportedly Burn Kajuru LG Chair’s Vehicle During Burial

According to Punch Newspapers, suspected bandits on Monday killed two residents and set ablaze the official vehicle of the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area during an attack on the Ugom community in Kaduna State.

The assailants reportedly stormed the Ehwakya area, firing sporadically and causing panic among residents.

Community sources identified the victims as 25-year-old Bitrus David and 40-year-old Goma Idi.

The gunmen also invaded Dogon-Noma, where residents had gathered for the burial of the father of politician Usman D. Stingo.

Eyewitnesses said mourners fled when the attackers opened fire near the burial site.

No fewer than four vehicles were burnt during the incident, including the official vehicle of the council chairman, Dauda Madaki, as well as Stingo’s vehicle.

In a statement, the Chairman of the Ugom Progressive Union, Onnusim Alhaji Ishaya, described the attack as tragic.

He confirmed the deaths and the destruction of vehicles, adding that some residents were still unaccounted for as of yesterday.

Kajuru Local Government Area has experienced repeated attacks in recent times, raising fresh concerns over security in the area.
