BAUCHI POLICE ARRESTED SUSPECTS OVER ARMED ROBBERY, HOMICIDE, AND CYBERCRIME CASES
The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded significant breakthroughs in the investigation of several violent crimes reported across the State over the week. In a continued effort to ensure the safety and security of all residents, our operatives have swiftly responded to distress calls, leading to the arrest of multiple suspects involved in crimes ranging from culpable homicide, armed robbery to criminal intimidation/cyber bullying and extortion.
1.ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR EXTORTION AND ASSAULT IN DARAZO
On the 14th of February, 2026, a complaint was lodged at the Darazo Division by three residents of Rigar Garba Village: Usman Gidado (30), Jibrin Bala (35), and Dahiru Iliyasu (20). They reported that they were on two separate occasions (9th and 11th February) attacked and robbed by a gang of armed youths in Unguwar Jarmai, Darazo. The gang, armed with weapons, assaulted and intimidated, dispossessed the victims of their mobile phones (one Tecno Pop8, one keypad Tecno and Nokia), all valued at one hundred and four thousand naira (N104,000) only.
A team of operatives led by the DPO moved to the scene and arrested three male suspects: Aminu Musa 20yrs, Yusuf Sunusi 20yrs, and Abdullahi Ahmad 22yrs. The gang's leader, identified as Saifullahi Hussaini (alias Ramos) and other members like; Ifiritu, Nasiru Hussaini, Ismail Bale, Zilkiflu and others are still at large. Investigation is ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
2.ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN ALKALERI
On the 14th February, 2026, a formal complaint was recieved from Mr. Danjuma Ibrahim 30yrs and Alhaji Ali Mukhtar 45yrs of Tabanni Village, Alkaleri LGA at the Divisional Headquarters that on the 11th of February, at about 1:30hrs, unknown persons armed with weapons, stormed their shop, fired sporadically into the air, broke in and carted away crates of soft drinks, clothing materials other items.
A team of operatives in conjunction with vigilantes traced the suspects' route, leading to the arrest of Abdulmumini Ibrahim 28yrs and Ya’u Malam Halilu 25yrs, both of Bangaji Village, Alkaleri LGA.
The suspects were found in possession of the stolen items. Further searched recovered a donkey belonging to Ya’u Malam Halilu. The duo have confessed to the crime, implicating three other accomplices; Inusa Babaji, Sale, and Haruna Auta who are currently on the run.
Efforts are on to trace and apprehend the fleeing accomplices.
3.ARREST OF SUSPECT OVER CULPABLE HOMICIDE IN YANA SHIRA
On the 4th February, 2026, Mr. Alhaji Sani Umaru of Faggo Village, Shira-Yana LGA, reported at the Yana Division that a man identified as Hassan Malam Gurgu of Kiyawa Town, Jigawa State, was found unconscious in the bush with a severe head injury.
A team of policemen led by DPO Yana Division rushed to the scene and moved the victim to Yana General Hospital. He was immediately pronounced dead by a medical doctor.
A preliminary investigation led to the arrest of Mr. Mohammed Hassan 32yrs of the same address in connection with the incident.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
5.POLICE TRACK, ARREST SUSPECT FOR CYBER BULLYING AND CRIMINAL INTIMIDATION
On 31st of January, 2026 one Alhaji Dan Aliya Muhammad 49yrs of Warra Village, Alkaleri LGA, reported at Alkaleri Division that he received an anonymous phone call in which the caller threatened to kill him.
The Command’s technical team immediately swung into action and tracked the phone number. The forensic investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, Istifanus Mela 55yrs of Federal Low-Cost, Alkaleri town on 7th February, 2026. The suspect will subsequently profiled and charged to court.
CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc(+) assures the public that Bauchi State Command remains committed to fighting crime and ensuring that all perpetrators are brought to justice.
He urged residents to continue providing timely information to help rid the state of criminal elements.
