NDC STATEMENT ON COURT RULING Our attention has been drawn to a ruling by the Federal High Court sitting in Lokoja this morning, wherein His Lordship, Honourable Justice Isah Dashen, gave a ruling on an application filed by an unregistered association known as Peace Movement Party. The public knows that by December 2025, the Nigeria Democratic Congress  as an association complained of INEC’s refusal to register us as a political party, whereupon we proceeded to the Federal High Court. The Federal High Court upheld our constitutional right to freedom of association under the Constitution and compelled INEC to register us, which INEC did. Since then, we have started political activities, embarked on the registration of members, held congresses from ward to national levels, held conventions, and concluded primaries to all offices following INEC’s timetable.  BENUE LADY REPORTEDLY DETAINED IN COTE D’IVOIRE OVER ALLEGED HUMAN TRAFFICKING.

2nd February, 2026

A woman identified as Miss Martha Nguvan Nomishan, said to be from Konshisha Local Government Area of Benue State, has reportedly been arrested and detained by authorities in Côte d’Ivoire over allegations of human trafficking.

According to information obtained by BenueInfo-pedia, Nomishan, who was based in Gboko, travelled out of Nigeria in December 2025. The trip was allegedly facilitated by one Miss Nancy, who linked her up with another contact, Miss Vivian John, with whom she was to stay upon arrival in Côte d’Ivoire.

Sources say communication was initially maintained with Nomishan through the WhatsApp account of Vivian John shortly after her arrival. However, by early January, the communication reportedly became irregular before stopping entirely.

The situation raised concerns among her family and associates until last Friday, when Vivian John allegedly sent a message claiming that Nomishan had been arrested and detained by Ivorian authorities in connection with alleged human trafficking.

As at the time of this report, there has been no direct communication from Nomishan herself, as she is said to be in detention. Official confirmation from the authorities in Côte d’Ivoire is yet to be obtained.

Meanwhile, the development has triggered growing concern in Konshisha and Gboko communities, with calls for urgent intervention by Nigerian diplomatic officials to clarify the circumstances surrounding the reported arrest and ensure her welfare and legal rights are protected.
