 NUT Protest : Wike Warns Against Politicising Insecurity The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has warned against politicising insecurity amid protests by the Nigeria Union of Teachers, FCT wing, over the killing and abduction of school staff and children in Oyo State. Teachers stormed the FCTA Secretariat in Abuja to condemn the killing of Michael Oyedokun and to demand the release of abducted pupils and teachers from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinle in Oriire Local Government Area. The FCT minister addressed the protesters on Tuesday, saying the federal government is on its toes working to secure the rescue of the schoolchildren and their teachers. Wike urged protesters to avoid turning the tragedy into a political issue and to give security efforts time to produce results. Bill Gates canceled his planned keynote address at the AI Impact Summit in India at the last minute as renewed scrutiny over his past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein intensified. The Gates Foundation did not provide a specific reason for the decision, stating only that the move was made to ensure the summit’s focus remained on its core priorities. Gates had traveled to India for the event, and his attendance had remained uncertain throughout the week, with officials noting that it would ultimately be a personal decision.

Attention on Gates has grown following the release of draft emails found in Epstein’s account that allegedly referenced him. The drafts, which appear to have been written by Epstein, claim he arranged sexual encounters for Gates. Gates has denied those allegations, saying his interactions with Epstein were limited to philanthropic discussions at dinners and that he never visited Epstein’s private island or engaged in inappropriate conduct. The broader scrutiny comes amid renewed attention on individuals connected to Epstein, including ongoing investigations and legal proceedings involving other high-profile figures.
