Somalia kills 27 Al Shabab terrorists, defence ministry says Somalia's defence ministry said that its armed forces and regional security forces had killed 27 Al Shabab terrorists in Jubbaland state in an operation with international support, Reuters reported. The defence ministry statement did not name the international partners that provided support but said its operation was backed by air strikes. The defence ministry said the terrorists were killed in "a large-scale operation in areas of Lower Jubba and Middle Jubba," adding that weapons and landmines had also been seized. It said those killed included key members of the terrorist group. An African Union peacekeeping mission has also been trying to aid the Somali government's efforts to combat Al Shabab.

Britney Spears sells ownership of her music catalog

Britney Spears has sold the rights to her music catalog to the publishing company Primary Wave, according to a source familiar with the agreement.

The deal is reportedly worth around $200 million. Representatives for Spears and Primary Wave did not immediately comment on the sale.

Spears, 44, first rose to fame with her 1999 debut album and has produced a string of iconic hits, including “...Baby One More Time,” “Oops!… I Did It Again!,” “Gimme More,” “Circus,” and “Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.”

She was freed from a 13-year conservatorship in 2021. In her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, Spears detailed how her life had been controlled by others. Since then, she has married and divorced Sam Asghari and continues to attract attention online with Instagram posts, often featuring dance clips or cryptic imagery. Last week, she posted a message expressing fear of her family and gratitude for surviving her past, though she later removed the caption.

Spears joins a growing list of major artists who have sold their music catalogs in recent years, including Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. Primary Wave’s portfolio also includes works by Stevie Nicks and the estates of Prince and Biggie Smalls, representing more than 1,000 Top 10 singles and over 400 number-one hits.
