 Governor Alex Otti Highlights How Kidnappers, Bandits Were Dislodged from Abia Communities in Abia Third Anniversary Speech Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has disclosed that his administration inherited a security crisis in which kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal gangs held several communities hostage before being dislodged through sustained operations. Speaking during his third anniversary celebration at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Friday, Governor Otti revealed that bandits had established camps inside forests across the state, from where they launched attacks on innocent residents, causing panic and displacement. “Security was a major challenge in the state three years ago. Several communities were held hostage as kidnappers, armed robbers, and other criminal groups set up camps in the forests from where they launched sporadic attacks on innocent Abians,” Otti said. CP Sani-Omolori Condoles CHANNELS TV, Media Professionals


The Commissioner of Police, Bauchi State Command, extends his deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Kani Ben, a cameraman with Channels Television, who passed away on 15th  February, 2026, following a road accident while covering the North-East Development Commission's (NEDC) program.


The accident occurred on 6th February, 2026, involved 13 journalists and resulted in Ben suffering severe spinal cord injuries. He passed on while receiving treatment at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi.


CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc(+) commends the deceased's passion and commitment to journalism and keeping the citizens informed. He also offers condolences to Channels Television and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).


The Police Command assures the public of its continued support for journalists and commitment to ensuring justice is served in cases of harm to media personnel.
