 BAUCHI STATE POLICE COMMAND PRESS RELEASE SWIFT RESPONSE: POLICE/COMMUNITY ARREST TWO ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS, RECOVER STOLEN VALUABLES IN BIRSHI GANDU In its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property, the Bauchi State Police Command,  has recorded yet another commendable breakthrough following prompt response to a distress report. On 17th October, 2026 at about 1015hrs, four complainants (two males and two females), all of Birshi Gandu, reported at 'E' Division that on the same day, while they were asleep in their compound housing Cozy Resort Hotel, three hoodlums armed with knives and machetes forcefully broke in and dispossessed them of their personal belongings including Samsung Galaxy S22 and S23, Redmi Note 14, iPhones, iPads, a Lenovo laptop, a Samsung tablet, power banks, earpods and other valuables running into millions of Naira, including office ID cards and driver's license.  El-Rufai To Honour EFCC Invitation On Monday


Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, is set to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.


His lawyer, Ubong Esop Akpan, disclosed this on Thursday while responding to an alleged attempt by security operatives to arrest the former governor at the Abuja airport.


According to Akpan, El-Rufai was approached by security officials shortly after arriving in Abuja on Egypt Air flight MS 877 from Cairo. 


He described the action as a violation of his client’s constitutional rights and an example of executive overreach.


The counsel explained that the EFCC’s invitation was delivered to El-Rufai’s residence while he was outside the country, making immediate compliance impractical.


He added that the legal team had written to the commission in December 2025, informing it that the former governor would respond upon his return.

Akpan said the EFCC was formally notified that El-Rufai would voluntarily present himself at the commission’s office by 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 16, 2026. 


He argued that any attempt to arrest him despite this commitment undermines due process.

He further maintained that there were no grounds for the attempted arrest and called for the return of El-Rufai’s passport, as well as an apology for what he termed an infringement on his client’s rights.


El-Rufai has publicly stated his willingness to cooperate with any legitimate investigation.
